Privacy Policy

Cartogram for Mac · Last updated 10 June 2026

The short version: Cartogram for Mac does not collect, store, or share any personal data. There is no account, no analytics, no advertising, and no tracking. Everything you set up stays on your Mac.

What we collect

Nothing. Cartogram has no user accounts, no analytics or crash-reporting SDKs, no advertising, and no third-party trackers. We never see how you use the app or what places you choose.

Your location

Cartogram only requests your location if you turn on “Follow my location.” When you do, your location is used on your device only, to centre the map wallpaper on where you are. It is never transmitted to us, never stored off your Mac, and never shared with anyone. Leave that option off and the app never asks for it.

Map tiles & the network

To draw the map, the app uses Apple Maps (Apple’s MapKit framework). Map data is downloaded over HTTPS from Apple’s servers; as with any map, those requests necessarily include the area of the map being shown so the right tiles come back. We never see that traffic and attach no identifier of you to it. It is governed by Apple’s privacy policy.

Where your settings live

Your chosen place, style, colours, and toggles are saved locally on your Mac (in the app’s preferences). They are not synced to us or to any server. Deleting the app removes them.

Children

Cartogram is rated 4+ and collects no data from anyone, including children.

Changes

If this policy ever changes, the updated version will be posted on this page with a new date above.
